Coming to life

Standard

Yay Lilly VS Willie has finally got an illustrator! So excited. Got the first drafts for the main characters last night and am almost lost for words! They are exactly how I pictured them in my head and so happy to finally see the story coming to life! Ran them past the children this morning (who better to judge a children’s book than children?) and they were very excited about it. After 2 very long years of wondering if this book was ever going to make it to publication I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. 🙂

Starting them young

Standard

Every night before bed my six year old daughter writes, she writes stories and poems and she loves it. Last night I was proudly showing my partner her work which is pretty good most nights and he suggested that we compile it into book form and on one page have it exactly as it is written , then on the next have it with the correct spellings. This is an idea that my daughter loves and is now pushing forward to fill her little notebook with writing so that she can publish her first book. Both she and her little sister are currently helping me to write a children’s book anyway so are already co-authors. It is having a wonderful impact on their imagination, vocab and creativity. I guess its a case of like mother, like daughter 🙂

Frustrated!

Standard

The last few nights I have been itching to write but the constant distractions are making it impossible! Even when I do get the time the constant noise has left my writing lacking as I just can’t concentrate. Children and a partner make for a loud and busy house and as I have said before I wouldn’t change them for the world, but oh what I’d give right now for a couple of days, totally isolated in some hut somewhere up a mountain. Paradise!
